Photocasting

Photocasting is simply the use of RSS feeds to allow users to subscribe to other photo galleries. A photocast application (like BePodder) automatically updates when new photos are added. Photocasts work by sending a small file, called a "feed", to a photocast-capable image viewer or web browser. Through the viewer, feeds from various sources can be downloaded automatically and viewed at your convenience. With BePodder you are ready to receive photocast feeds from many website. You can subscribe to an Image/Photo feed in in two way:

1) click on the Add Button

and then insert the feed url and click "add".

2) in the menubar select "Directory" and then "Imagefeeds list".. this open a new window, choose a feed and click "Subscribe"

Flickr

Flickr is a photo-sharing community that enables users to upload hundreds of photos and tag each photo with descriptive words. Other users can then search on these tags, enabling them to find and comment on the photos of other users. Flickr's functionality includes RSS and Atom feeds.

Every photo has an associated user identifier. Once you have a user identifier, you can easily view information on that user and retrieve that user's photos and tags. User identifier is something like this: 63608912@N00

Click on the Add Button

and then insert
http://www.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=63608912@N00&format=rss_200_enc

to show the last ten photos from this user.

Flickr users typically search on photos with a particular tag; a tag is a short piece of text that users can attach to photos. You can find some flickr's tag feed in the "Imagefeeds list" but if you need search flickr for a specific tag with "cat" for example: click on the Add Button

and then insert
http://www.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?tags=cat&format=rss_200_enc

to show the last ten photos that have been marked with the tag "cat".
