Videocasting

Vodcast or videocast is simply the use of RSS feeds to deliver of video on demand contents through Atom or RSS enclosures. With BePodder you are ready to receive videocast that can be viewed on your computer using standard software such as MediaPlayer or VideoLAN. You can specify the default player by clicking in the menu-bar Settings>Preferences and then select FileType from the left list of the preferences dialog; select Auto if you want BePodder selects automatically the best player for the enclosure file format.

You can subscribe to a videocast/videoblog in in two way:

1) click on the Add Button Add Button and then insert the feed url and click "add".

2) in the menubar select "Directory" and then "videoblog list".. this open a new window, choose a feed and click "Subscribe"

After you have downloaded a video you can play it by clicking the Play Button Add Button

There are some video formats (like .wmv) that aren't associated with a file type in this case you cannot launch the video with the Play Button. You can open the enclosure folder and drag the file on the player. For more information on how to associate these formats, please read your system documentation under the section 'File Types'.

You can access the Enclosures Folder by clicking on the folder icon in the Info Pannel or by right-clicking your mouse on an item and select 'Open Enclosures Folder' in the context menu.

Yahoo

Yahoo! provides content for a variety of products and services as RSS feeds. Yahoo! Search results from Video search can be saved as RSS feeds. You can subscribe to a search result feed by using the following pattern (for video search), replace keyword with the term you want to search for:

http://api.search.yahoo.com/VideoSearchService/rss/
videoSearch.xml?appid=bepodder&adult_ok=0&results=50&query=keyword

Blogdigger

Blogdigger Media provides RSS feeds of media content for many well known video formats (WindowsMedia, Real Media, QuickTime, Avi Video, Shockwave Flash) that support RSS 2.0 enclosures.

You can subscribe to a search result feed by using the following pattern (for video search), replace keyword with the term you want to search for:

http://www.blogdigger.com/media/rss.jsp?q=keyword&media=video&sortby=rel

sortby=rel    indicates to sort the search result by relevance

sortby=date    indicates to sort the search result by date
